Burger Party is an open-source time management game developed by Aurélien Gâteau (otherwise known as agateau on the internet). The game is available on Android, and a PC port running under Java is also available.
The game is primarily a time management game; the kind of game where the goal is to complete the objective(s) as fast as possible before the time runs out while making as few mistakes as possible. In this case, the goal is to create a burger following the customer's order as fast as possible without putting the wrong ingredients out of order. That may seem simple, but this game can be surprisingly difficult and frantic at times as you are quickly chased by time to serve the order without messing up.
Installation
Burger Party can be downloaded through the Google Play Store, F-Droid Main Repository, direct download from the game's website, or the game's GitHub repository. As of 19 May 2025, the latest version of the game is 1.4.4 released on 3 July 2024. The game is also available for other desktop-based platforms (Linux, Windows, etc) through a java port of the game on the game's GitHub page (though, we do not test the desktop port of the game). The game's APK file is 8 MB in size which expands to 11 MB upon install. With such a small game size, the download should not be an issue unless your device are very low on storage. We installed the game through F-Droid and everything went smoothly.
Gameplay
As mentioned before, the gameplay of Burger Party is primarily focused on time management. Our respondents said the gameplay is similar to Papa's Burgeria from the Papa Louie series, though it is certainly much simpler. The objective is to create and serve burgers and side dishes to the customer with every toppings in order.
To make the burger, you simply choose the ingredients that the customer want in order from bottom to top. Once you are done assembling the burger, you will then give the customer a side dish if they order one by choosing the right one from the available selection. After that, you simply repeat the same steps with every customer. If at any point you choose the ingredients wrong or out of order, the currently-assembled burger will be discarded and you'll need to make the burger again from scratch.
That may seem simple, but the challenge comes from time; if you spend just a little too long, the customer will become sad and give less money, so you need to make the burger as fast as possible without making mistakes. Furthermore, there are also time limits (except on the "kids" difficulty). You'll need to finish all the orders for the level before the timer runs out, or else you will lose the level.
Every few levels, you will unlock new ingredients which the customers may order. So, as you progress through the game, you'll need to keep track of more and more ingredients, making the game harder. You'll also unlock new areas as you keep playing; you'll start the game in the USA at first, then you move to the pirate hideout, and finally you go to Japan.
The game provides "create your burger" mode where, as the name implies, you can create your own burger using all the ingredients you've unlocked. The game also keeps track of achievements, though it does not do much, and all of the achievements feel generic.
According to our respondent, the game is fun and easy to get into, but it gets boring rather quickly; this is certainly not the kind of game you'll play for hours on end. Still, the game can be quite fun for a short dopamine rush.
Graphics
From our observation, the graphics of Burger Party is simple and rather childish. The burger and the environment is pretty basic and generic, while the characters all look quite childish with large eyes and simple features.
It is rather professional and well-made for a proper game, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. Nonetheless, the simple graphics suit the simpler gameplay quite well.
Our respondent mentioned that the game's art style is simple, eye catching, cute, and well-designed.
Audio
The game's main menu theme feels upbeat and grand. It gives the vibe that the game is casual and arcade-y while also professionally-made.
However, strangely enough, there is no music whatsoever once you enter a level and the game starts. This makes the gameplay very quiet with no background music. It is certainly weird, and the game could use some background music.
As for the sound effects, our respondents said that it fits the game well. Each ingredients has a distinct sound when placed in the burger which fits the ingredients' characteristics, along with some sound effects after every order. The sound effect of broken glass after making a mistake is quite jarring but otherwise fits the situation well. However, the childish "yay" and "perfect" exclamation at the end of every level makes the game feel very childish, as if the game is made for very young children.
Customizability
Aside from choosing between three difficulties and turning off music and sound effects, there is not much the player can change in game. Our respondents did not give any opinions regarding customizability, though there is not much to say either. The game does not have much game mechanics or features which require customization.
Verdict
Burger Party is a simple yet frantic game all about being as fast as possible while trying to be perfect. It may seem easy at first, especially if all you do is finish the level, but trying to get a perfect score is surprisingly challenging.
However, the game does get pretty repetitive and boring rather quickly, even with all the new ingredients and locations. It is certainly not be the kind of game you'll play for long stretches of time, but it can be a great game if you need a quick finger-fumbling challenge that won't break your storage space or steals your private data.
